The 5 reasons you are not meeting your goals 150 150 nykkihardin

Did you know that on the average, only 3% of people succeed at accomplishing their goals, and the other 97% fail?

These are pretty crazy statistics.  It just goes to show – realizing our goals is about so much more than simply setting them.  It really takes strategy.

Today is the last day of January and if you are struggling with your health goals and feeling discouraged in your progress with new years resolutions, please know you are not alone and the odds are not in your favor.

Below are the 5 biggest reasons that people most often fail to succeed.

1.  Lack of Clarity

Clarity is EVERYTHING.  The clearer and more detailed your goal, the faster you will experience positive results.  You cannot say “I am going to eat health.”  You have to define your exact parameters as well as your approach.

One of the reasons 21 Cleanse gets such great results (a recent cleanser losing 30 lbs and reducing his blood pressure by over 40 points!) is because it provides a clear, outlined structure for not only executing a full body cleanse, but for eating plant based nutrition.

With our daily schedule, food lists, shopping lists, on the go ideas and eating out suggestions, you know exactly what to do in any situation.  Plus, there is a start and a finish date – which is incredibly important!

2. Over-Commiting

When your eyes are bigger than your stomach and you take on more than you can chew, this often leads to overwhelm and feelings of defeat. When this happens, most usually get discouraged and throw in the towel.  The best thing you can do is to set reasonable goals with tangible action steps that you can honestly commit to.

Then you must DECIDE, chose a start date, and pull the trigger.

3. Lack of Support

Proper support is everything.  Whether it is hiring an expert, committing to a specific program or enlisting the camaraderie of friends and family, make sure to put the proper support pieces in place to make it easier to reach your targets and keep your eye on the prize.

4.  Out of Reach (think irrational)

Setting a goal this is not natural or completely out of scope no matter who you are or what you do is simply setting yourself up for failure. You might think you want it, but is it really a  possibility?  Be realistic with yourself.

For example, if the average linebacker is 6′ or taller and weighs somewhere in the ball park of 240, would it makes sense for someone 5’6″ to go for this position?

You must set goals that are within your reach – and do NOT set them according to other people’s standards.

5. Disconnection from your WHY

Clarity and a strong, serious connection to your WHY is imperative.  Knowing exactly why you want something, to the point that you can taste it, will accelerate your progress and keep you focused in times when you plateau and when things are challenging.

Here’s a Ted Talk about by Simon Sinek that is all about the importance of your why.

Creating positive results in our life and realizing our goals is really an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling process. But doing this requires strategy and commitment – which means slowing down, focusing and executing.
